Calderdale Theatre School has several original plays available for performance by other youth theatres. All have been successful and are available with production notes.
We have been members of the National Association of Youth Theatres since 1994 and have been attending the Big Youth Theatre Festival in Epping Forest since 2000. Our first trip was done on the train and we struggled across London on tubes, London overground and bus to the site at Gilwell Park, the international headquarters of the Scout movement in Epping Forest. Since then we've become much more organised. Several of us have passed our minibus test and now we take 2 minibuses and a van so that we can also fully self cater for the rather large group that always seem keen to take part. We didn't take a production to the festival for the first couple of years but since 2003 we have taken one every year, performing outside in the amphitheatre.
Sadly there was no BYTF in 2009 as NAYT lost the funding to enable them to run it. We are hoping that it will resume in 2010 and if it does we’ll be there!
